How to Manually update the Global Address List

Sam -

Sometimes you may experience a situation when you are unable to send an email to a user in your exchange environment.

One possible reason for this is that the user's email was deleted and then created again resulting in the change of unique name which is given to each email email address on the exchange server.

To resolve this issue please do the following:

 1. Remove that user's email address from the list of suggested contacts in your outlook.

Click on New E-mail --> Start typing that user's email address. A suggestion will appear as shown in the picture below:

Delete it by clicking on the cross icon (circled)

Discard the New E-mail and proceed to step 2.

2. For Outlook 2007:

Click on Tools --> Send/Receive --> Download Address Book as shown in the picture below.

Make sure that the options are selected as shown in the picture above. Then Click OK. Your Outlook will start synchronizing with our exchange server.

    For Outlook 2010:

Click On the File tab --> Info --> Account Settings --> Download Address Book

Make sure that the options are selected as shown in the picture above. Then Click OK. Your Outlook will start synchronizing with our exchange server.

Re-start the Outlook application. Do a test email again to that user. Make sure that you type in user's email manually.
