How to migrate mailbox using Outlook

Below are the steps required to migrate your mailbox from theCloud Exchange Mail to vGRID Exchange Mail, using Outlook 2016

Disable Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook and connect to theCloud Exchange Mail mailbox
  2. Click on the File Menu.  Then click on the Account Settings button and select Account Settings....

  4. Click on the Change button and untick "Use Cached Exchange Mode".  Click Next and you will then be given a warning "The operation you selected ...".  Click OK and then click Finish.
  5. Restart Outlook by closing & opening the application.

Export your mailbox to a file

  1. Open Outlook and connect to your theCloud Exchange Mail mailbox
  2. Click on the File Menu.  Then click on Open & Export in left hand menu & then Import/Export
  3. When the wizard opens, select "Export to a file" option in the list & click the Next button
  4. Then select "Outlook Data File (.pst)" option & click Next button
  5. Select the top folder & click Next button
  6. Export.jpg
  7. Click Browse and select where you would like the PST file to be saved, & click OK
  8. Select from the options listed on how you would like to deal with duplicates and click the Finish button
  9. You will then be given the option to create a password for the backup.pst that you are creating - enter a password or leave it blank if you do not wish to password protect this file
  10. Wait for all of your email to be exported - this could take quite some time to complete depending on the size of your mailbox.

Import your mailbox into the your new vGRID Exchange Mail mailbox.

  1. Configure your email client to connect to vGRID Exchange Mail service.

  2. Once connected, click on the File Menu.  Then click on Open & Export in left hand menu & then Import/Export
  3. When wizard open, select "Import from another program or file" option in the list & click Next button
  4. Then select "Outlook Data File (.pst)" option & click Next button
  5. Click Browse button and select where you saved the PST file, highlight it, & click OK button
  6. Select from the options listed on how you would like to deal with duplicates and click the Next button
  7. Finally, click the Finish button to start the import.

  9. Once the process has finished, all of your mailbox items should have been migrated to Exchange 2016.

REMEMBER : this procedure will need to be done on each mailbox that is in your account.

Enable Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook and connect to vGRID Exchange Mail mailbox
  2. Click on the File Menu.  Then click on the Account Settings button and select Account Settings....

  4. Click on the Change button and tick the box "Use Cached Exchange Mode".  Click Next and you will then be given a warning "The operation you selected requires Outlook to restart".  Click OK and then click Finish.
  5. Restart Outlook by closing & opening the application.
